Introduction
The Sikh Human Development Foundation Scholarship, often known as the SHDF
Scholarship, was set up by the Nishkam Sikh Welfare Council, New Delhi, in collaboration
with the Sikh Human Development Foundation, USA. It was to benefit gifted learners from
families with limited resources in Punjab and other states in North India. In the past 20 years,
more than 7,000 scholarships have been awarded to well-deserving students, with about
three-quarters going to Indian girl students who desperately need money to pursue higher
education.
The primary goal is to aid Punjabi Sikh students financially. In addition, it encourages low-
income Sikh students to enroll in professional degree programs.
Application Process
To be qualified to receive this scholarship program’s benefits, there is an extensive application procedure. Students who have taken the Class X and XII Exams can submit applications as well and take the written test and interview, but if they are selected for the scholarship, they must enroll in a professional course at a recognized institute to be considered. The following bullet points provide a summary of the SHDF scholarship eligibility criteria:
The applicant should be enrolled in postgraduate coursework or a professional diploma or degree program at a reputable university or institute in India.
The applicant needs to have scored at least 60% in the previous two exams.
The applicant for the SHDF scholarship’s total annual family income may not exceed INR 2,50,000.
Eligibility Criteria
Brilliant orphan students, orphaned children, parents with chronic illnesses, sewadars of gurudwaras, farmers, domestic servants, female tailors, and others are among those who would benefit from this scholarship programme. The SHDF scholarship award amount under this scholarship programme is as follows:
To pursue any professional degree or diploma programme, the applicant eligible to receive the SHDF scholarship grant benefits will receive up to INR 33,000 every year.
An application for an SHDF scholarship renewal is required to keep receiving the benefits.
Procedure in Steps
Applicants, their families, and even the Sikh community’s lives have been changed by this scholarship. The application process for an SHDF scholarship in steps is described below:
Step 1: The first thing that the candidate must do is go to the SHDF scholarship portal. There is a tab for "Scholarships India." The applicant then must select "Scholarship Application Form for New Cases.".
Step 2: Open the PDF file with the information on the SHDF scholarship and the application by clicking on the earlier-mentioned link.
Step 3: The applicants must print out the SHDF scholarship application form in the same format and begin carefully hand-filling it out.
Note that there shouldn’t be any dots or dashes on the form.
Step 4: The applicant must complete the application and provide all necessary documentation.
Step 5: Applicant must mail the online SHDF scholarship to the address provided by the 2023 deadline.
