Easy Indian receipes for beginners

Here are some easy Indian recipes for beginners:

  1. Dal (Lentil Soup):

Ingredients:

  1. 1 cup yellow lentils (moong dal)

  2. 1 onion, chopped

  3. 1 tomato, chopped

  4. 2 garlic cloves, minced

  5. 1 tsp cumin seeds

  6. 1 tsp turmeric powder

  7. 1 tsp red chili powder

  8. 1 tsp salt

  9. 2 tbsp oil

  10. 4 cups water

Directions:

  1. Rinse the lentils thoroughly and soak them in water for 30 minutes.

  2. In a pressure cooker or a pot, heat oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them crackle.

  3. Add onion and garlic, and sauté until onions turn translucent.

  4. Add the chopped tomato, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.

  5. Drain the water from the lentils and add them to the pot. Add 4 cups of water, salt, and mix well.

  6. If using a pressure cooker, cook on high for 3-4 whistles. If using a pot, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer until lentils are soft and fully cooked.

  7. Serve hot with rice or naan bread.

Aloo Gobi (Potato and Cauliflower Curry):

Ingredients:

  1. 1 medium cauliflower, chopped into small florets

  2. 2 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped into small cubes

  3. 1 onion, chopped

  4. 1 tomato, chopped

  5. 2 garlic cloves, minced

  6. 1 tsp cumin seeds

  7. 1 tsp turmeric powder

  8. 1 tsp red chili powder

  9. 1 tsp salt

  10. 2 tbsp oil

  11. 1/4 cup chopped cilantro

Directions:

  1. In a large pan or wok, heat oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them crackle.

  2. Add onion and garlic, and sauté until onions turn translucent.

  3. Add the chopped tomato, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.

  4. Add the chopped cauliflower and potatoes. Mix well, cover, and cook for 10-15 minutes or until the vegetables are tender.

  5. Add salt and mix well. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan bread.

Chana Masala (Chickpea Curry):

Ingredients:

  1. 2 cups cooked chickpeas

  2. 1 onion, chopped

  3. 1 tomato, chopped

  4. 2 garlic cloves, minced

  5. 1 tsp cumin seeds

  6. 1 tsp coriander powder

  7. 1 tsp garam masala powder

  8. 1 tsp salt

  9. 2 tbsp oil

  10. 1/4 cup chopped cilantro

Directions:

  1. In a large pan or wok, heat oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them crackle.

  2. Add onion and garlic, and sauté until onions turn translucent.

  3. Add the chopped tomato, coriander powder, and garam masala powder. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.

  4. Add the cooked chickpeas and mix well. Add salt and mix again. Cook for 5-10 minutes or until chickpeas are heated through.

  5. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan bread
